BioPreferred Around Town in April and Talking 'Procurement'BioPreferred Program staff exhibited at the Federal Small Business Procurement and Technology Plus Expo, held in Washington, D.C. the first week in April. The Expo featured small businesses marketing their products to Federal representatives. USDA BioPreferred staff displayed samples of biobased products and discussed the mandatory Federal procurement preference for biobased products with Federal government technical and procurement officials. Staff will also exhibit on Thursday 4/19 at the Washington D.C. Convention Center - as part of the 28th Annual Government Procurement Conference. The purpose of this conference is to foster business partnerships between the Federal government, its contractors, and small businesses. Staff will discuss and display biobased product samples from many different product categories. As part of USDA's own Earth Day commemoration, on Wednesday 4/18, program staff will display biobased products in the cafeteria of the Agency's headquarters building. BioPreferred staff will be on hand to discuss innovative, ag-based bioproducts, and how USDA employees can look for 'USDA Certified Biobased Products' where they shop. 'Earth Day' Webinar with the Department of Energy (DOE): Bioproducts, Grown and Made in AmericaJoin us on Thursday, 4/19, from 3-4 pm ET, when staff will be co-presenting in a webinar on bioproducts made in America from renewable resources like plants, algae, and wastes. Learn how scientific research and innovation is advancing the use of sustainable materials in everyday products and emerging frontiers like 3D printing. Presenters will include USDA's BioPreferred Program and DOE's Bioenergy Technologies Office personnel (including Oak Ridge National Laboratory and Sandia National Laboratory staff); we will discuss how science and agriculture are combining to enhance the American tradition of ingenuity and productivity.
